What Reign does for your site

Reign Theme overviewPremiumGet Reign Theme →

Reign is the design and the glue of your site. Plugins bring the features: a community, courses, events, a shop. Reign makes all of them look like one site, puts the right things in the header, sends people to the right login screen, lets one search box find everything, and gives you settings for all of it without writing code.

Here is what that means in practice, and where each part lives.

Every Wbcom plugin, and many others such as WooCommerce, bbPress and the main LMS plugins, picks up your Reign colours, fonts and buttons. Visitors move from your blog to a course to a forum and it still feels like the same place.

  • Light and dark mode. Visitors can switch with one button, and every plugin page switches with them. See turn on dark mode.
  • Phones and tablets. Every page fits a phone screen. Reign has its own mobile header and a slide-out menu you can size for tablets. See make it look right on phones.
  • One place for your brand. Set the logo, colour palette and fonts once and every page follows. See the Brand your site checklist.

With BuddyNext (and MediaVerse for messages), members see their messages, notifications and a profile menu in Reign’s header on every page, not only on community pages. Visitors see Login and Register buttons that open your community’s own sign-in screens and bring them back to the page they were on. See set up BuddyNext.

Reign also works with BuddyPress, BuddyBoss Platform and PeepSo if you already run one of them.

Choose how people log in and join: a popup over the current page, your own login and register pages, the WordPress login screen with your logo and colours, or BuddyNext’s screens. If a login page you chose is ever deleted, Reign falls back to the standard login instead of a broken link. See set up login and registration.

Reign’s search results page shows your posts, pages, products, listings, jobs and services, then adds sections for members, spaces, discussions, events, media and courses from your plugins. Visitors do not need to know which plugin holds what. See pages and search.

Reign Settings > Extend installs and switches on BuddyNext, Jetonomy, Learnomy, Eventonomy, MediaVerse, WP Career Board, Listora, WP Sell Services and WB Gamification in one click each, no licence needed. Most of them can fill themselves with demo content, so you see a finished site before you add your own. See Wbcom plugins.

On a new site Reign offers starter pages (a homepage, About, Community and Contact). For anything else there are Reign block patterns in eight groups: heroes, about sections, features, social proof, pricing and FAQ, calls to action, footers and post lists. See build your homepage.

Wbcom Essential, part of Reign, adds the building pieces: 30+ blocks and 40+ Elementor widgets such as hero sections, pricing tables, sliders, FAQs, member and group grids and product displays. Install it from Reign Settings > Extend. See Wbcom Essential.

Everything visual is a setting under Appearance > Customize:

  • Four header layouts, a top bar, a sticky header and the header icons.
  • A left side panel menu, which can start below the header.
  • Page width, sidebars and title banners for posts, pages, search and every content type, and per page from the editor.
  • The footer, copyright line and its colours.
  • Typography for the whole site.

Start with first configuration. Reign Settings > Home shows what is still left to do.

Smart Performance, on by default, loads each plugin’s styling only on the pages that need it and loads the page’s essential styles first. See Smart Performance.

Reign’s official child theme keeps your own CSS and code through every update, and your settings carry over when you switch to it. See child themes. Activating your licence brings theme updates to the WordPress Updates screen.

Every Wbcom plugin has a free edition, and Reign plus those free editions is enough to launch a full community, learning platform, directory, events site, job board or services marketplace. See what you can build with the free plugins.
