What you can build with Reign and the free plugins

Section titled “What you can build with Reign and the free plugins”

Every Wbcom plugin has a free edition, and you install all of them from Reign Settings > Extend in one click, with no licence. Together with Reign they are enough to run a complete site: a community, a learning platform, a directory and more. You do not have to buy anything else to launch.

Every site also gets Wbcom Essential, which is part of Reign: 30+ blocks and 40+ Elementor widgets for building your pages.

Every screen in these docs was checked with the free editions installed from Extend. Pro editions are optional upgrades for when you need their extra tools; each section below names what Pro adds, in the plugin’s own words.

Free plugins: BuddyNext, plus MediaVerse, Jetonomy and WB Gamification if you want them.

What members get, free:

  • BuddyNext: an activity feed with a rich composer, reactions, comments, hashtags, polls, shares and bookmarks; spaces (groups) with roles; member profiles and a searchable directory; connections and follows; notifications and branded emails; onboarding, invites and social login; optional two-factor login; and a moderation queue for reports.
  • MediaVerse: photo and video uploads, albums and collections, reactions, comments and favourites, privacy levels per item, an explore feed, and direct messages with text, media and voice. BuddyNext’s messages run on it.
  • Jetonomy: forum, Q&A, ideas and social discussion spaces, with open, request-to-join or invite-only spaces, threaded replies, mentions, embeds and code highlighting.
  • WB Gamification: points, 30 ready-made badges, levels, leaderboards, challenges, streaks and peer kudos. Every feature ships free.

Reign adds messages, notifications and the profile menu to your header, sends Login and Register to your community screens, and lets one search box find members, spaces, posts and discussions.
