Your Reading Home: Saved and Following
BuddyPress Member Blog overviewFree + ProGet BuddyPress Member Blog →
Every member has a blog home, including members who are not allowed to write. For a reader it is a reading home: the posts you saved and the writers and topics you follow. It lives in the same place as a writer’s home: the My Blog Dashboard page, or the Blog tab on your profile on BuddyPress, BuddyBoss or PeepSo sites. On the dashboard page a member who cannot write sees it headed My reading when the heading is shown.
Writers get the same two tabs next to their writing tabs.
The tabs appear only when the site owner has the feature on: Reading list for Saved, and Follow writers for Following (in WB Plugins > Member Blog > Features). Both are private: only you see your own Saved and Following tabs.
Press the bookmark button (Save to reading list) on any post to add it to your reading list. The Saved tab lists everything you saved, most recently saved first. Press the same button again (Remove from reading list) to take a post off the list.
When the list is empty, the tab says Nothing saved yet and offers Find something to read, which goes to the site’s blog page (or the home page when there is none).
Following
Section titled “Following”Follow a writer with the Follow button on their writer profile, their Blog tab, or under their posts (where the site shows the engagement bar). Follow a topic with the Follow button on its topic page, when the site uses topic hubs. The Following tab then shows:
- Writers you follow and Topics you follow, each as a row of chips. Each chip links to the writer or topic and has a Following button, which reads Unfollow when you point at it or reach it with the keyboard. If you follow a lot, the most recent 30 of each are shown with a count of the rest.
- Latest from people you follow: the newest posts from those writers and topics.
To unfollow, press the chip’s button. The button turns back into Follow in place, so a mistaken tap is one tap to undo.
When you follow no one yet, the tab says You’re not following anyone yet and suggests a few Writers to follow.
