The Shortcode Areas tab adds the output of any shortcode to every member blog post automatically: above or below the full post, or above or below the excerpt in post lists. Common uses are a call to action, an ad unit, a newsletter sign-up form or a promotional banner.

Go to WB Plugins > Member Blog > Shortcode Areas.

Area Where it shows Default
Before Excerpt Before the excerpt in your blog archive and listing pages Empty
After Excerpt After the excerpt in your blog archive and listing pages Empty
Before Entry (Single Post) At the top of a single post’s content Empty
After Entry (Single Post) At the bottom of a single post’s content Empty

An empty area adds nothing.

  1. Paste one or more shortcodes into an area, for example [my-plugin-cta] or [elementor-template id="123"]. Any shortcode registered on your site works, including WB Member Blog’s own.
  2. Click Save Settings.
  3. Open a member blog post (or a list of them for the excerpt areas) to check the result.
  • Which posts. The areas apply only to member blog posts, the posts written through Member Blog, shown in the main content. Your site’s other posts are left alone. They do not appear in sidebars, widgets or other secondary lists, in RSS feeds, or in the REST API.
  • Older posts. Posts written before version 4.1.1 carry no member blog mark, so the areas skip them. A developer can count them in with the bpmb_is_member_blog_post filter.
  • Excerpt areas appear where your theme shows post excerpts in the main list (blog page, category and tag pages, search results). Themes that print their own summaries without the WordPress excerpt will not show them.
  • Unknown shortcodes show as text. If the plugin providing a shortcode is inactive, visitors see the shortcode text itself. Clear the area when you deactivate that plugin.
  • Output is cleaned like post content. Scripts and embedded frames in a shortcode’s output are removed, so an ad or form that relies on a <script> or <iframe> may not display. Place those with your theme or a widget instead.
  • Related posts. To show related posts under every post, switch on Related posts on the Features tab instead of adding [bp-member-blog-related] here, so readers do not see two strips.
Hook Use
bp_member_blog_shortcode_areas_inject Filter. Return false to skip the areas on a request (receives single or archive).
bp_member_blog_shortcode_areas_raw Filter. Change an area’s shortcode text before it runs (receives the text and the area key).
