Pro. This feature requires WB Member Blog Pro. The free plugin must be installed and active first. See the Pro index for every Pro module.

Custom fields add your own questions to the front-end post form, so members can supply structured information with every post: a reading time, a difficulty level, a source link, a location, a video, an image gallery. The answers are shown under the post and can be placed anywhere with a shortcode or block.

Use it when posts on your site share details that do not belong in the body text. The module is on by default, with no fields until you create some.

  1. Go to WB Plugins > Member Blog > Manage Modules.
  2. Make sure Custom Fields is switched on.
  3. Open the Custom Fields tab in the Member Blog settings sidebar and click Add Field.

Turning the module off hides the fields on the post form and on posts, and disables the shortcode and block. Values already saved on posts are kept.

Every field has these settings. Some types add their own (see Field Types).

  • Total Fields, Required and Conditional counts at the top.
  • The list of fields, in the order they appear on the post form. Drag to reorder.
  • Each field shows badges for Required or Optional, Conditional, and Hidden (not shown on posts).
  • Per field: Quick edit (label and Show on post), Full edit (every setting) and Delete.
  • A reminder of the display shortcode at the bottom.

Fields appear in the post form under Post settings > Details, in the order you set. Required fields must be filled in before the post is published or sent for review. If one is empty, the post is saved as a draft and the form lists the missing fields. Nothing the member wrote is lost.
