WB Member Blog works the same way on BuddyPress and BuddyBoss Platform. When either is active, every member profile gets a Blog tab that holds the same member home as the My Blog Dashboard page: one tab set, one post card and one post count. There is nothing to switch on.

If both BuddyBoss Platform and BuddyPress are present, the plugin runs in BuddyBoss mode. If PeepSo is also active, BuddyPress or BuddyBoss takes priority.

The Blog tab is on every member’s profile and is visible to everyone, including logged-out visitors. Its count is the member’s published posts, including posts they co-authored.

Who is looking Sub-tabs they see
A visitor, or another member Published
The member, if they may write Published, Drafts, Pending, then Saved and Following. With Pro: Calendar, Analytics and Settings
The member, if their role cannot write Saved and Following

The sub-tabs carry icons and counts. When they do not fit on a narrow screen, the row scrolls sideways with an edge fade and a scroll arrow.

Create Post opens the submission page set under Pages. If no submission page is set, the composer opens inside the profile at /members/{name}/blog/bp-new-post/ with a Write sub-tab.

  1. Go to WB Plugins > Member Blog > Pages.
  2. Under Profile Tab Customisation, fill in Blog Tab Label (for example Articles) and Blog Tab URL Slug (lowercase letters, numbers and hyphens).
  3. Click Save Settings. Profile URLs update automatically.

Developers can do the same with the bp_member_change_blog_label and bp_member_change_blog_slug filters. To show the tab to logged-in members only, return is_user_logged_in() from the bp_member_blog_nav_visible filter.

A member who may write gets a Blog item under their account menu in the WordPress toolbar, with Posts (their Blog tab) and New Post.

When a member post is published, an activity entry with the featured image and excerpt appears in the activity feed.

Setting What it does Default
Rich activity feed posts (Content tab) Posts published member blog posts to the activity feed with a preview image and excerpt On

The BuddyPress or BuddyBoss Activity component must be active. Only published posts create entries.

On the Access tab, Allowed Member Types lets members of chosen types write even when their role is not ticked. A member can write if they have an allowed role or an allowed member type. Leave every type unticked to skip the member-type check. See Who can create posts.

Emails are sent on every platform. BuddyPress and BuddyBoss also show on-site notifications in the notification bell:

  • Free: someone clapped for your post, and a writer you follow published a post.
  • Pro Notifications module: approval, publishing, comment, co-author and scheduling notices. In the BuddyBoss App these use shorter text suited to push notifications.

Members choose which emails they receive on the Settings tab of their blog home (Pro). See Notifications.

With the Group Blogs module on and the Groups component active, members can link posts to groups and each group gets a Blog tab. See Group Blogs.

The member home, post cards and composer use the plugin’s own styles, so they look the same on BuddyPress, BuddyBoss, PeepSo and standalone sites, and they follow your theme’s dark mode.

The Blog tab is missing. Clear page and object caches, then go to Settings > Permalinks and click Save Changes. If you use a filter on bp_member_blog_nav_visible, check what it returns.

A member sees only Published on their own profile. Their role, or member type, is not allowed on the Access tab, or they are viewing someone else’s profile.

No activity entries. Check the Activity component is active, Rich activity feed posts is on, and the post is published rather than pending or draft.

404 on Blog tab pages. Go to Settings > Permalinks and click Save Changes.
