Your blog home is where you find everything you have written and everything you are reading. It is one set of tabs, and it is the same wherever the site shows it.
Where your blog home is
Section titled “Where your blog home is”| Site setup | Where to find it |
|---|---|
| Any site | The My Blog Dashboard page (the site owner picks the page; it holds the [member-blog-dashboard] shortcode). |
| BuddyPress or BuddyBoss | The Blog tab on your profile. |
| PeepSo | The Blog section of your profile. |
Both places show the same tabs, counts and cards.
On the dashboard page, the page’s own title is the heading and a Create Post button sits beside the tabs. On your profile, the Published tab shows a line with your post and follower counts and the Create Post button.
The tabs
Section titled “The tabs”You only see the tabs that apply to you. A member who can write sees the writing tabs; a member who only reads sees the reading tabs (see Your reading home). Visitors to someone else’s blog see only their Published list.
| Tab | Shows | Who sees it |
|---|---|---|
| Published | Your published posts, including private ones and, with Pro Co-authors, posts you co-author. | Everyone (visitors see public posts only) |
| Drafts | Posts you saved without publishing, and posts sent back to you. | You, if you can write |
| Pending | Posts waiting for an editor’s review. | You, if you can write |
| Calendar | (Pro, with Scheduling on) Your scheduled and published posts by date. | You, if you can write |
| Analytics | (Pro) Views and engagement for your posts, when the site owner has the Analytics tab on. | You, if you can write |
| Saved | Posts you saved to read later, when the site has the reading list on. | You |
| Following | Writers and topics you follow, when the site has following on. | You |
| Settings | (Pro) Your preferences, such as notifications, co-authors and series, when the site owner enables them. | You, if you can write |
Each tab shows its count. On a phone the tabs collapse into a menu that names the tab you are on; tap it to see the rest.
The post lists
Section titled “The post lists”Published, Drafts and Pending each have a search box, a list or grid view switch, and (with Pro) a category filter. Long lists are split into pages.
Each post is a card with:
- The title, with a Co-Author badge on posts you co-author (Pro).
- A date line: Published, Last edited (drafts) or Submitted (pending) and the date.
- The first category, and the view count on published posts.
- On a draft that an editor sent back: a Sent back label and the start of their note.
- An Edit button, and a More actions menu (the three dots).
Card actions
Section titled “Card actions”| Action | Where | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Edit | Every card you may edit | Opens the post in the composer. See Editing a post after you submit it. |
| Unpublish | More actions, on a published post | Asks you to confirm, then moves the post to Drafts. Readers can no longer see it. |
| Publish | More actions, on a draft, only if you can publish directly | Publishes the draft. On a site that reviews posts, open the draft and press Submit for Review instead. |
| Delete | More actions | Asks you to confirm, then moves the post to the trash. Only the post’s author (or an editor or administrator) sees Delete; co-authors do not. |
A deleted post goes to the trash, where the site owner can restore it. A restored post comes back with its featured image. If the site owner has Delete featured images with posts turned on, the image is removed from the media library only when the post is deleted for good from the trash, only if you uploaded that image yourself, and never while another post still uses it.
If you unpublish a post on a site that reviews member posts, getting it back online means submitting it for review again.
Empty lists
Section titled “Empty lists”An empty tab says what it is for and, where it makes sense, offers a next step, such as Write your first post on an empty Published tab or Write a post on an empty Drafts tab.
For site owners
Section titled “For site owners”If your theme hides page titles, the dashboard can print its own heading again:
add_filter( 'bpmb_dashboard_show_title', '__return_true' );
