The Content tab controls the categories members can use, how posts behave, how often the follow digest is sent, what images members can upload, and what happens to plugin data when you delete the plugin.
Go to WB Plugins > Member Blog > Content. Change what you need and click Save Settings at the bottom.
Categories
Section titled “Categories”| Setting | What it does | Default on a new site |
|---|---|---|
| Allow custom categories | “Enable members to create new blog categories during post submission.” New categories are available immediately. Editors and administrators can always add categories. | Off |
| Blocked categories | Ticked categories are blocked: members cannot assign them to their posts. Leave all unticked to allow every category. | None blocked |
With more than eight categories, a search box above the list filters it and a counter shows how many are blocked. Blocked categories are enforced everywhere a member can set a category, including Quick Edit and bulk edit in the admin.
If your site has no categories yet, create some under Posts > Categories first.
Post Behaviour
Section titled “Post Behaviour”| Setting | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Delete featured images with posts | Removes a member blog post’s featured image from the Media Library when the post is permanently deleted (emptied from the trash), unless another post uses the same image. Only an image the post’s own author uploaded is removed, never one another user uploaded. Moving a post to the trash keeps it. | On for new sites |
| How many related posts | Number of posts in the automatic related posts strip, 1 to 12. Used when Related posts is on in Features. | 4 |
| Follow digest frequency | How often the digest email goes out: Weekly or Daily. Only sent when Digest email is on in Features, and only to members with something new. | Weekly |
| Rich activity feed posts | Only with the BuddyPress Activity component. Shows published member posts in the activity feed with a preview image and excerpt. | On for new sites |
| Posts per page | Posts per page on the member dashboard, 1 to 50 | 10 |
See Related Posts and Following and the Digest Email.
Image Uploads
Section titled “Image Uploads”| Setting | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Maximum upload size | The largest image a member can upload, in MB. The field shows your server’s own maximum, which is the upper limit. | 20 MB |
| Allowed image types | The image types your site accepts, as a checkbox each. Untick a type to stop members uploading it. | JPG, PNG, GIF and WEBP on a new site |
The list of image types comes from your site’s own settings, so a site that accepts AVIF or HEIC shows those too. SVG is never offered, because WordPress does not clean SVG files and members are not trusted uploaders.
Danger zone
Section titled “Danger zone”| Setting | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Also delete all Member Blog data | When the plugin is deleted (not deactivated), also drops reading lists, follows, claps, view history and writer statistics, and removes the plugin’s post data such as saved editor blocks. | Off |
The plugin’s settings are always removed when it is deleted. Blog posts themselves are never deleted. This cannot be undone. Leave it off if you are only deactivating to test a conflict. With Pro installed, this one setting covers both plugins.
