Pro. This feature requires WB Member Blog Pro. The free plugin must be installed and active first. See the Pro index for every Pro module.

On sites running BuddyPress or BuddyBoss, Member Blog adds its notifications to the notification bell, so members see what happened to their posts while they are on the site. Emails are sent either way; the bell is an extra. On PeepSo and standalone sites, members get the emails only.

  • BuddyPress or BuddyBoss Platform, with the Notifications component on.
  • The Notifications module on, under WB Plugins > Member Blog > Manage Modules.

Without BuddyPress, the Notifications tab says “The on-site notification bell needs BuddyPress. Emails are not affected.” With BuddyPress but the Notifications component off, the tab says so and links to where you turn the component on.

Event Who sees it Example text
A post is submitted for review Administrators selected under Select Admin User(s) “Sam has published a post My Trip that is pending review.”
A post is approved and published The author “Your post My Trip has been reviewed and published.”
A post is sent back The author “Your post My Trip was sent back, so it has not been published.”
Someone comments The author “Alex commented on your post My Trip.”
A reader reacts (BuddyPress Reactions plugin) The author “Alex reacted to your post My Trip.”
A view milestone is passed The author “Your post My Trip reached 500 views.”
A co-author invitation The invited member “Sam invited you to co-author: My Trip”
An invitation is accepted or declined The member who invited “Alex accepted your co-author invitation for: My Trip”

Each notification links to the post. Opening the post marks its notifications as read. When a post is deleted, its notifications are removed too, so members are not left with notifications that lead nowhere.

In the BuddyBoss App, notifications carry a short title, such as “New Comment” or “Post Pending Review”, for push alerts.

Members set the bell separately from email in the On-Site Notifications part of their Settings tab. Each type is on by default. See Your Notification Preferences.

No bell at all BuddyPress or BuddyBoss is active, and its Notifications component is on.
