License and Updates
BuddyPress Member Blog overviewFree + ProGet BuddyPress Member Blog →
Pro. This feature requires WB Member Blog Pro. The free plugin must be installed and active first. See the Pro index for every Pro module.
Activate your license key so WordPress can update Pro automatically. The license does not switch any feature on or off: every module works with or without it. What an unactivated site misses is updates, and updates carry security and bug fixes, so activate it on every live site.
The screen is WB Plugins > Member Blog > License. It is always present while Pro is active.
Activate Your License
Section titled “Activate Your License”- Find your license key in your purchase receipt email, or in your Wbcom Designs account.
- Go to WB Plugins > Member Blog > License.
- Paste the key into License key.
- Click Activate License.
The Status row changes to Active: receiving updates, with the renewal date (“Renews on …”) or “Lifetime license - never expires.” Pro updates then appear in Dashboard > Updates and on the Plugins screen like any other plugin, and you can turn on automatic updates for Pro there.
Activation unlocks:
- Automatic update notifications in the WordPress Plugins screen.
- Priority support from the Wbcom Designs team.
Status Messages
Section titled “Status Messages”| Status | Meaning | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Active: receiving updates | The key is activated on this site | Nothing |
| Key saved but not activated | A key is stored but not linked to this site | Click Activate License |
| Not activated: updates are paused | No key. Pro works, but updates do not arrive. | Paste your key and activate |
Within 30 days of the renewal date, the Status row warns you how many days are left. Renew to keep receiving updates.
Once a key is active, the field shows only “Key ending in …” and is read-only: “Deactivate first to change the key.”
If Activation Fails
Section titled “If Activation Fails”The screen shows the reason above the form, for example:
| Message | Meaning |
|---|---|
| That license key is not valid. | Check for a typing or copy error. |
| That license key is for a different product. | The key belongs to another Wbcom product. |
| This license has no activations left. Deactivate it on another site, or upgrade your plan. | Every activation slot is in use. |
| Your license key has expired. Renew it to keep receiving updates. | Renew in your Wbcom Designs account. |
| The license server could not be reached. Please try again. | Your server could not contact the license server. Try again later, or ask your host whether outgoing connections are blocked. |
“The licensing library is incomplete”
Section titled ““The licensing library is incomplete””If an administrator sees WB Member Blog: the licensing library is incomplete, so license checks and updates are unavailable, some files inside the plugin’s libs/edd-sl-sdk/ folder are missing, usually from an interrupted upload or a zip that was repacked. The site keeps working; only license checks and updates stop. Download the plugin again from your Wbcom Designs account and reinstall it.
Move Pro to Another Site
Section titled “Move Pro to Another Site”- On the old site, go to WB Plugins > Member Blog > License and click Deactivate License. This frees the activation slot.
- On the new site, activate the same key.
Updating Free and Pro Together
Section titled “Updating Free and Pro Together”WB Member Blog (free) needs no license key. Pro and the free plugin are released in lockstep: Pro 4.3.0 requires WB Member Blog 4.3.0. Update both at the same time. If Pro finds the free plugin is too old, it pauses itself and shows an admin notice naming the version it needs; it resumes on its own once the free plugin is updated.
