Troubleshooting (candidates)
Fixes for common candidate problems. If you are an employer, see the employer troubleshooting guide.
I applied but heard nothing
Section titled “I applied but heard nothing”Open Candidate Dashboard > My Applications and check the status:
- Submitted - the employer has your application and has not acted yet.
- Reviewing - the employer is looking at it.
- Shortlisted - you are under consideration.
- Hired - you got the job.
- Not selected - the employer is no longer considering you.
- Withdrawn - you withdrew it.
- Position closed - the employer closed the job before deciding. You get an email when this happens.
- Job removed - the job was deleted. Your application stays in your history.
If a signed-in application is not in the list, it did not submit. Apply again.
The Apply button is missing
Section titled “The Apply button is missing”- The job has expired or was closed. The page shows a notice instead of the button.
- The site requires an account. If the page shows Sign in to apply, sign in or register first.
- The site requires the Candidate role. Register or sign in with a candidate account.
- You are signed in as an employer. Members who post jobs cannot apply. Use a separate candidate account.
- The job applies through the employer’s own site. The page shows Apply on Company Site instead.
Most sites also allow guest applications. See Apply as a guest.
It says I have already applied
Section titled “It says I have already applied”- As a signed-in member, you can have one open application per job. Withdraw the existing one from My Applications to apply again.
- As a guest, applying again with the same email within 24 hours does not create a second application; you see the same confirmation as the first time.
- “This email already has an account. Sign in to apply.” The email you typed belongs to a member. Click Sign in to apply, sign in, and apply from your account so the application lands in your dashboard.
My resume upload failed
Section titled “My resume upload failed”- File too large. The message reads “File must be under X MB”. The default limit is 5 MB, and the site owner can raise it up to 20 MB. Save a smaller file and try again.
- Wrong format. Only PDF, DOC and DOCX are accepted. Convert other formats and images to PDF.
I cannot find a job I saw earlier
Section titled “I cannot find a job I saw earlier”- It expired or was closed. A saved link still opens the job page, with a notice and similar open jobs.
- It was deleted. A deleted job no longer opens.
- You saved it. Check Candidate Dashboard > Saved Jobs. Deleted jobs are not listed there.
My saved jobs are missing
Section titled “My saved jobs are missing”- Sign in. Saving needs a signed-in account.
- Check the bookmark. A saved job shows a highlighted bookmark. Click the bookmark again if it is not highlighted.
I did not get the confirmation email
Section titled “I did not get the confirmation email”- Check your spam or promotions folder.
- Check that your application is recorded. Signed-in members can see it in My Applications. If it is there, the site has a problem sending email, and the site owner needs to fix it.
- Check the email address. If you applied as a guest with a typo, the email went to the wrong address. Apply again with the right address.
One of my applications shows “Job no longer available”
Section titled “One of my applications shows “Job no longer available””The employer or a site admin deleted the job after you applied. The application stays in your history and its status becomes Job removed. Click Remove on the row if you want to delete it from your list.
I get too many job alerts, or too few
Section titled “I get too many job alerts, or too few”- Open Candidate Dashboard > Job Alerts. Change each alert’s frequency or delete it.
- Alerts with overlapping searches send separate emails. Delete the ones you do not need.
- Every alert email has an Unsubscribe from this alert link.
- To stop all alert emails, untick Job Alert Digest under Candidate Dashboard > Settings > Email Notifications.
- A guest alert sends nothing until you click the link in the confirmation email.
Employers cannot find me
Section titled “Employers cannot find me”With Pro, public resumes appear on the site’s Find Candidates page.
- Build a resume under Candidate Dashboard > My Resumes.
- Turn on Public in the resume builder and click Save Resume.
- Turn on Open to new opportunities to appear in the “Open to work” filter.
I forgot my password
Section titled “I forgot my password”Use the Lost password link on the login page. A reset email goes to the address you registered with.
If you are signed in and want a new password, use Candidate Dashboard > Settings > Change Password.
I want to delete my account
Section titled “I want to delete my account”Go to Candidate Dashboard > Settings > Privacy & My Data and click Delete my account. Enter your password and type DELETE. Your account is locked at once and deleted after a grace period, 14 days by default. Sign back in before then and click Keep my account to cancel.
When the account is deleted, your profile, saved items, uploaded files and, with Pro, resumes and alerts are removed. Employers keep the applications you sent, with your name, email, cover letter, answers and files removed. They see “Deleted candidate”. This cannot be undone. The same panel has Request data export if you only want a copy of your data.
I still need help
Section titled “I still need help”Contact the site owner. Include the page address, a screenshot, the time and date, and the email address on your account. Never send your password.
