Job alerts
Pro feature - Requires WP Career Board Pro.
You can save a job search as an alert and get an email when new jobs match it. Signed-in members and, if the site allows it, visitors without an account can set up alerts.
Create an alert
Section titled “Create an alert”From the Find Jobs page
Section titled “From the Find Jobs page”- Search and filter the job board until the results show what you want.
- Click Alert me in the toolbar above the results.
The alert saves your keyword and the filters you have on, with a daily frequency. The button changes to Alert saved. You can change the frequency later from your dashboard.
Not signed in? When the site owner allows guest alerts, an email field appears next to the button. On phones, the field opens the first time you tap the button.
- Type your email address and click Alert me. The button reads Check your email to confirm.
- Open the email with the subject Confirm your job alert and click Confirm my job alert.
Nothing is sent until you confirm. If you did not ask for the alert, ignore the email.
After you apply
Section titled “After you apply”Signed-in members can click Get notified about similar jobs after applying. It saves a daily alert that uses the job’s title as the keyword, plus its category, job type and remote setting.
Manage your alerts
Section titled “Manage your alerts”Open Candidate Dashboard > Job Alerts. Each alert shows its keyword and filters. You can:
- Change the frequency in the drop-down.
- Click Delete to remove the alert.
The tab shows how many alerts you have, and your Overview has a Job Alerts card that opens the tab.
Each person can keep a limited number of alerts. The site owner sets the limit under Career Board > Settings > Job Alerts, and the default is 10.
Frequency
Section titled “Frequency”| Frequency | When you get an email |
|---|---|
| Instant | When a matching job goes live |
| Daily | A daily email listing matching jobs posted in the past day |
| Weekly | A weekly email, sent on Mondays, listing matching jobs posted in the past week |
You only get a daily or weekly email when at least one job matches.
What an alert matches
Section titled “What an alert matches”A new job matches when it fits every part of your alert:
- Keyword - every word of your search appears in the job’s title, description or company name.
- Category, job type, location, experience level and tags - the job has one of the values you chose.
- Job board - the job is on the board you searched.
- Salary - the job’s pay range overlaps your minimum and maximum. The alert compares the salary numbers as entered and does not convert between hourly, monthly and yearly pay or between currencies. Jobs with no salary still match.
- Remote only - the job is marked remote.
The alert email
Section titled “The alert email”The email is titled New jobs matching your alert by default and lists the matching jobs with links. Every email has an Unsubscribe from this alert link, and mail apps that support it show an Unsubscribe button. Opening the link removes that alert.
Job alert emails are one of the optional emails. To stop all of them, untick Job Alert Digest under Candidate Dashboard > Settings > Email Notifications. See Profile, account and notifications.
The site owner sets the sender name and address for alert emails under Career Board > Settings > Emails in the Sender card.
For site owners
Section titled “For site owners”Under Career Board > Settings > Job Alerts you can:
- Turn Guest alerts on or off. It lets visitors without an account save an alert with their email.
- Set Alerts per person, from 1 to 100. It is the most alerts one member or one email address can have.
- See every saved alert with its subscriber, search, frequency, last sent date, and whether it is active or waiting for email confirmation.
