Finding jobs
You can search, filter and sort the job board without reloading the page, then open any job to read it and apply.
Browse the job board
Section titled “Browse the job board”Open the Find Jobs page (/find-jobs/ on a default install). It lists published jobs as cards. Each card can show:
- Job title
- Company name and logo
- Badges for Featured, Remote, job type, experience level and location
- A short excerpt
- Salary, if the employer entered one
- The application deadline, or a closed label
- How long ago the job was posted
Click a card or View Job to open the full job page. Use the layout buttons above the results to switch between list and grid view. The site owner sets how many jobs load at a time.
Search by keyword
Section titled “Search by keyword”Type in the Search jobs box. Jobs must contain every word you type in the title, the description or the company name. Words of one letter are ignored, and only the first six different words are used. Results update without a reload.
Filter jobs
Section titled “Filter jobs”The Filters panel sits beside the results. Depending on how the site owner set it up, it can include:
| Filter | What it does |
|---|---|
| Job type | Shows jobs of the types you tick |
| Experience | Shows jobs at the experience levels you tick |
| Category | Shows jobs in the categories you tick. Child categories sit under their parent, and a search box appears when there are more than 12 |
| Tags | Shows jobs with the tags you tick |
| Location | Remote only shows only jobs marked remote |
| Job board | Shows jobs from the boards you tick, when the site has more than one board |
| Salary | Two sliders for a minimum and maximum. See Salary range filter |
The options in each list are the ones your site has set up. If the site uses the separate Job Filters block instead, it shows drop-down lists for category, job type, location and experience, and two number fields for salary.
You can tick several values in one filter. A job matches if it has any value you ticked in a filter, and it must match every filter you use. Each active filter appears as a removable pill above the results. Click Clear all to remove them all. Links that carry filters in the address bar open with those filters already applied, the matching boxes ticked and the pills shown. Every change you make updates the address bar, so you can share the page or step back with the browser’s Back button. A long Category list gets a search box, and child categories sit indented under their parent.
On small screens the filter panel collapses. Use its toggle to open it.
Use the Sort jobs menu above the results:
- Recommended - best match while you are searching, otherwise the site’s default order
- Newest first
- Closing soonest - jobs already past their deadline come last
- Highest salary - each job’s top salary figure converted to a yearly amount
- Oldest first
Featured jobs come first with Newest first and when you are searching.
Section titled “Load more”Click Load more jobs at the bottom to show the next set. It is a real link to the next page of results (for example /find-jobs/page/2/, or /jobs/page/2/ on the jobs archive), so it also works without JavaScript and search engines can reach every job.
Browse by tag or category
Section titled “Browse by tag or category”Tags on a job page link to a page that lists only jobs with that tag. Categories, job types, locations and experience levels have the same kind of page.
Read a job
Section titled “Read a job”The job page shows:
- The full description
- Job details such as work mode, salary, and the Apply By date when the employer set a deadline
- Company information
- Apply Now, or Apply on Company Site when the employer applies through their own site
A job that has expired or was closed shows a notice, no apply button, and up to three open jobs you might like instead.
Recommended for you (Pro)
Section titled “Recommended for you (Pro)”With WP Career Board Pro and AI matching set up, your Candidate Dashboard > Overview shows a Recommended for you list. Each card shows a match percentage, the job title, the company and the location.
Save a job
Section titled “Save a job”Sign in, then click the bookmark icon on a job card, or Save Job on the job page. Saved jobs appear under Candidate Dashboard > Saved Jobs. See Saved jobs.
