Notifications
MediaVerse overviewFree + ProGet MediaVerse →
With BuddyNext active, BuddyNext owns the notifications and emails for media activity. Members get them in the same bell and inbox as the rest of their community activity. MediaVerse supplies the media and the privacy rules; it does not send its own activity emails on a BuddyNext site.
What members are notified about
Section titled “What members are notified about”| Event | What the member gets |
|---|---|
| Someone reacts to your media | A bell notification. Many reactions on one item collapse into one row, such as “Aisha and 49 others reacted”. No email. |
| Someone mentions you in a comment on media | A bell notification and an email. The member can turn the email off in their BuddyNext notification preferences. |
| Someone comments on your media | A BuddyNext notification. |
| Someone follows you | A BuddyNext notification. |
| Someone favourites your media | A BuddyNext notification. |
| You receive a message | A BuddyNext notification. |
Each event produces one notification, not two. MediaVerse skips its own copy of follows, comments, favourites and messages because BuddyNext sends them.
Emails
Section titled “Emails”While BuddyNext is active, MediaVerse sends no activity emails. The Emails section on the MediaVerse settings screen has nothing to switch on, and members do not see the MediaVerse activity-email switch. BuddyNext sends the emails instead.
BuddyNext sends only the emails it owns. An email type that BuddyNext has no equivalent for is still sent by MediaVerse, and the owner can still switch it on or off. Developers mark such a type with host_owned => false in the mvs_email_types filter. None of the built-in types do, so on a BuddyNext site MediaVerse sends none of its built-in activity emails.
Account deletion confirmations are not activity. MediaVerse always sends them, whether BuddyNext is active or not.
If you run MediaVerse on its own, without BuddyNext, MediaVerse sends the few member emails you switch on under its Emails settings.
Notices that stay in MediaVerse
Section titled “Notices that stay in MediaVerse”MediaVerse Pro notices that have no BuddyNext equivalent, such as photo battle invites, documents shared with a member, report outcomes and competition updates, are kept in MediaVerse’s own notification list. They are not sent by email while BuddyNext is active.
Privacy
Section titled “Privacy”A notification never reveals media the recipient cannot open. If a file’s privacy is tightened after the notification was created, or the file is deleted, the notification is hidden for anyone who can no longer see the file.
Turning them off
Section titled “Turning them off”Delivery and per-type preferences are BuddyNext settings. MediaVerse has no separate switch for these events. The Media entry under BuddyNext Integrations turns the media tab and media activity on or off.
