Timeline View

Timeline lays your roadmap items out on a horizontal calendar, positioned by each item’s target date.

Timeline is a template choice, like Board or Cards - it is not a separate widget or script. It only appears as an option when Enable Timeline View is turned on in Roadmap > Settings > Advanced. Turn it off and Timeline disappears from the shortcode, the block, and the Templates tab’s Default Template dropdown; any board that was set to Timeline falls back to the default template instead of breaking.

Displaying a timeline

With a specific product:

Narrowed to a date range:

Items need a target date set to appear on the timeline.

Timeline scale

Roadmap > Settings > Templates > Timeline Scale sets how far ahead the timeline looks from today: Monthly (default), Quarterly, or Yearly. Items whose target date falls inside that window appear, grouped by status; items with no target date are not shown (they need a target date to appear at all).

Reading the timeline

Each item appears as a bar positioned at its target date, colored by status.
The item title displays on the bar.
Clicking an item opens its details.

Setting target dates

Go to Roadmap > All Items.
Open an item.
Set the Target Date field.
Update or publish.

Combining with filters and sorting

status, category, and priority each take one value. sort accepts the shortcode’s normal values (votes, recent, comments, priority, title).

Troubleshooting

Timeline not offered as an option Check Enable Timeline View is on under Roadmap > Settings > Advanced.

Items missing from the timeline Confirm the item has a target date set, and that the date falls within the configured Timeline Scale window (or your date_from/date_to filter, if set).
