Upgrading from Free-only
If you already run Product Roadmap (free) and add Pro to an existing site, your data is preserved. Nothing is deleted or reset.
What happens to existing items
Section titled “What happens to existing items”- All existing roadmap items, changelog entries, votes, and comments stay as they are.
- Items that had no product assignment are treated as belonging to your default product board.
- Existing content is not automatically re-tagged into new products; create products and reassign items when you are ready.
Database setup
Section titled “Database setup”Pro creates its database tables and default options when Pro’s own initialization runs, not only on plugin activation. WordPress fires the plugin activation hook once, on activation, and never again on a later update - so a site that activated an older Pro version and then updated in place gets any tables or options added since then applied automatically the next time the site loads, without needing to deactivate and reactivate Pro.
Recommended first steps
Section titled “Recommended first steps”- Activate your license - see Installation and license activation.
- Review the feature toggles at Roadmap > Settings > Advanced and turn on what you need (see Advanced tab).
- Create products if you plan to run more than one roadmap - see Multi-product management.
- Check the Analytics dashboard at Roadmap > Analytics. Analytics only records events going forward from when Pro starts tracking; it has no historical backfill for votes or comments made before Pro was active.
Version pairing
Section titled “Version pairing”Keep Product Roadmap (free) and Product Roadmap Pro on matching major releases and update them together. Pro checks the active Free version and pauses itself with an admin notice if Free is older than Pro requires.
