Styling and Theme Conflicts

Eventonomy overviewFree + ProGet Eventonomy →

Eventonomy blocks adapt to your theme’s colors and dark mode. If something looks off, check these.

Symptom: Cards or text switch to dark colors while your page looks light.

Cause: Eventonomy switches to its dark palette by itself when the page behind its blocks is dark and the theme sends no dark signal. A dark section behind the block can trigger it.

Fix: Developers can turn off the automatic switch:

add_filter( 'evnm_auto_dark_scheme', '__return_false' );

A theme can also request dark colors itself by adding the evnm-dark class.

Symptom: Cards look light on a dark site.

Cause: The theme does not send a dark signal, and the page background is not dark enough to detect.

Fix: Have the theme add the evnm-dark class in dark mode. BuddyX and Reign are detected automatically.

Fix: Eventonomy picks up the accent color of BuddyX and Reign. For other themes, set the accent yourself. See How to Match Eventonomy to Your Brand Colors.

Symptom: The event or calendar sits in a narrow column.

Cause: Your theme gives the block a narrow content width.

Fix: Set the page’s block alignment to Wide or Full width where your theme allows. Event layouts adapt to the width the theme gives them.

Switch temporarily to a default WordPress theme. If the problem goes away, your theme is overriding Eventonomy styles. Send the theme name and a screenshot to support.
