Answers about selling tickets, waitlists and refunds.

Free events and free tickets work in Free. Charging for tickets or donations needs Eventonomy Pro. Without a payment method, a paid ticket shows “Online ticket sales are not available for this event yet” instead of an Order button. See Tickets & Checkout and How to Sell Event Tickets on WordPress.

Pro - Payment gateways require Eventonomy Pro.

Stripe, PayPal, and your site’s own WooCommerce checkout. A method shows at checkout only when you have set it up and ticked it under Offer at checkout in Settings → Payments. See Payment Gateways.

Can buyers bring guests on a ticketed event?

Section titled “Can buyers bring guests on a ticketed event?”

No. Extra guests apply to free RSVPs only. On a ticketed event, each extra person buys a seat, or you add them as an attendee. See RSVPs.

On a free RSVP event, turn on Waitlist when full in Settings → Registration. The button then reads Join waitlist, and the first person waiting is promoted when a spot opens. On a paid event, everyone on the waitlist is emailed when a seat opens, and the first to finish checkout gets it. See Collect RSVPs with a Waitlist and Waitlist for Sold-Out Paid Events.

Yes. Turn on Hide sold-out events from listings in Settings → Registration. The event page stays reachable for anyone with the link.

Yes. A ticket holder can ask to cancel from the event page, My tickets or their order receipt. Asking moves no money. You approve or decline from Eventonomy → Attendees & Orders, using the Refund requested filter. See Refunds & Cancellations.

Pro - Refunds paid back through a gateway require Eventonomy Pro.

In Eventonomy → Attendees & Orders, click Refund on the paid order. The seat is released and the ticket stops working at the door. Refunds are always for the full order. For a partial refund, use your gateway’s own dashboard. See Refunds & Cancellations.

Does cancelling an event refund the orders?

Section titled “Does cancelling an event refund the orders?”

No. Cancelling emails the attendees but does not return money. Refund each paid order yourself.

Pro - Tax, booking fees and coupons require Eventonomy Pro.

Yes. Donations skip the booking fee and tax unless you switch them on. See Tax, Fees & Coupons.

Pro - QR tickets and the door scanner require Eventonomy Pro.

Yes. Every RSVP gets a scannable QR code, including free events. Online-only events show no QR code. See Check-in Scanner.
