Event Pages Show 404
Eventonomy overviewFree + ProGet Eventonomy →
Single event pages and browse views such as /events/month/ depend on WordPress rewrite rules and on a published Events page.
Every event link shows “Page not found”
Section titled “Every event link shows “Page not found””Symptom: /event/my-event/ and /events/ return a 404 page.
Cause: Rewrite rules are stale (after a migration, a permalink change or a plugin switch), or the Events page is in the trash or a draft. Eventonomy only registers event URLs while the Events page is published.
Fix:
- Go to Pages and check that the Events page is published and not in the trash.
- Go to WordPress Settings → Permalinks and click Save Changes. This flushes the rules.
- Go to Eventonomy → Setup & Health and check Essential pages exist and the permalink rows.
Permalinks are set to Plain
Section titled “Permalinks are set to Plain”Symptom: Pretty URLs do not work at all.
Cause: Pretty event URLs need a permalink structure other than Plain.
Fix: In Settings → Permalinks, choose any option except Plain, such as Post name, and save. See Permalinks Settings.
You renamed the event URL base
Section titled “You renamed the event URL base”Symptom: Old event links 404 after you changed the base from event.
Cause: External links still use the old base.
Fix: Save permalinks again, then set up 301 redirects from the old pattern.
The Events page is your front page
Section titled “The Events page is your front page”Symptom: View switching on the home page, such as clicking Month, shows the wrong page or a 404.
Cause: Older versions did not handle the Events page as the static front page.
Fix: Update Eventonomy to 1.9.0 or later, then save Settings → Permalinks once. View switching works on a front-page Events page from 1.9.0.
An import left old links broken
Section titled “An import left old links broken”Imported events keep their old addresses through automatic redirects. If an old link still fails, see How to Migrate from Another Events Plugin.
