Automatic Updates Not Working
Eventonomy overviewFree + ProGet Eventonomy →
Eventonomy updates come from wbcomdesigns.com, not the WordPress plugin directory. Two admin notices explain most update problems.
“Eventonomy could not reach wbcomdesigns.com to authorise plugin updates”
Section titled ““Eventonomy could not reach wbcomdesigns.com to authorise plugin updates””Symptom: A warning notice in wp-admin says updates will not download, with a Retry activation now button.
Cause: Eventonomy activates its built-in license in the background. Your host may block outgoing connections, or the store did not authorise updates. When the store refuses, the notice names the reason.
Fix:
- Ask your host to allow outgoing requests to wbcomdesigns.com.
- Click Retry activation now.
- A green notice, “Eventonomy is now authorised to download plugin updates.”, confirms success.
- If the store gave a reason, update Eventonomy to the latest version. If that does not help, contact Wbcom Designs support.
If DISABLE_WP_CRON is set with no system cron, the background attempts cannot retry on their own. See Reminders and Background Jobs.
“The bundled licensing and update kit is incomplete”
Section titled ““The bundled licensing and update kit is incomplete””Symptom: A notice says automatic updates are turned off and asks you to reinstall from a complete package.
Cause: Part of the plugin files was missing on the server, often from an interrupted upload or a copy that skipped a folder.
Fix: Download the plugin ZIP again from the downloads page and replace the plugin. Every other feature works normally while the notice shows.
Pro does not update
Section titled “Pro does not update”Symptom: Free updates but Pro does not.
Cause: Pro needs its own license key. An inactive or expired key blocks updates but not features.
Fix: Go to Plugins → Installed Plugins, click Manage License under Eventonomy Pro, enter your key and click Activate License. Update Free and Pro together. See Licensing.
