Give an event an agenda and visitors see its sessions as a timeline on the event page: what happens when, and who is speaking.

  • How to add sessions to an event
  • What visitors see on the event page
  • How multi-day and repeating events are handled
  1. Open the event in the editor (My Events → Edit, or Eventonomy → Events → Edit in wp-admin).
  2. In the Description section, find Agenda and click Add session.
  3. Fill in the session:
Field Description
Session title What the session is called. A session without a title is not saved.
Starts / Ends The session’s times, in the event’s time zone. Ends is optional, but cannot be before Starts.
Speaker The speaker’s name, as plain text. Optional.
Day Which day of the event the session is on: 1 for the first day, 2 for the second, and so on, up to the number of days the event lasts. A one-day event does not show this box.
Short description One or two lines about the session. Optional.
  1. Add as many sessions as you need. Remove deletes one. Move up and Move down order sessions that have no start time or share one; timed sessions always run by start time.
  2. Save the event. A session that ends before it starts, or sits on a day the event does not have, is marked under its row and the event is not saved until it is fixed.

A new session starts where the previous one ended, so a run of back-to-back sessions is quick to enter.

The event page shows an Agenda section after the description, on every layout. Each session shows its time range, title, speaker and description. Within each day, sessions run by start time. A session with no time stays after the one above it.

Times read exactly as you entered them for every visitor, because they belong to the event’s own time zone.

An event with no sessions shows no Agenda section.

When sessions are on more than one day, the agenda is grouped under a heading per day, such as “Day 2: Saturday, October 31”. The dates follow the event’s start date, so rescheduling the event moves them with it. If you shorten the event, sessions on days it no longer has are left off the page until you move them to a day it has.

On a repeating event the same agenda applies to every date.

The agenda is returned as agenda by GET /eventonomy/v1/events/{id} and written through settings.agenda on POST and PATCH. A write with a session that ends before it starts, or on a day the event does not have, returns 422 with the message in data.errors.agenda. To change the markup, copy templates/parts/single-event/agenda.php into your-theme/eventonomy/parts/single-event/agenda.php.
