Payment Problems

Eventonomy overviewFree + ProGet Eventonomy →

Pro - Payment gateways require Eventonomy Pro.

Gateway settings live in Eventonomy → Settings → Payments. Each method shows a status badge and an offer badge, which tell you what buyers see.

A gateway says “Not offered: finish setup”

Section titled “A gateway says “Not offered: finish setup””

Symptom: You ticked a method under Offer at checkout, but its badge reads Not offered: finish setup and buyers do not see it.

Cause: The method is switched on but not fully configured. Missing keys are the usual reason. A saved key alone is not enough: the method must also be ticked.

Fix: Open the method’s card and fill in what its row says is missing. Stripe needs a secret key, PayPal needs a Client ID and Secret. Save. The badge changes to Offered at checkout.

Symptom: The WooCommerce card shows Not set up, with the note “Switch on at least one payment method in WooCommerce > Settings > Payments first.”

Cause: The card shows Ready only when WooCommerce is active and at least one WooCommerce payment method is switched on.

Fix: In WooCommerce → Settings → Payments, switch on a method. Return to Eventonomy and reload the card.

Stripe or PayPal show “Replaced by WooCommerce”

Section titled “Stripe or PayPal show “Replaced by WooCommerce””

Symptom: Stripe or PayPal are configured but buyers only see one option.

Cause: When your site’s own checkout (WooCommerce) is on, it is the only method offered, because it already includes your WooCommerce methods.

Fix: To offer Stripe or PayPal directly, untick This site’s own checkout (WooCommerce) under Offer at checkout.

Stripe warns that webhook signatures could not be verified

Section titled “Stripe warns that webhook signatures could not be verified”

Symptom: A notice says recent deliveries were rejected because their signature could not be verified. Paid orders stay pending.

Cause: The Webhook signing secret is wrong, outdated or not saved. Eventonomy refuses calls it cannot verify, so it does not confirm orders from them.

Fix:

  1. In your Stripe dashboard, open Developers → Webhooks and select your endpoint.
  2. Reveal the Signing secret. It starts with whsec_.
  3. Paste it into Webhook signing secret in Eventonomy and save.

The notice clears on the next verified delivery. For a Stripe Connect endpoint, the same applies to Connect webhook signing secret. See Payment Gateways.

If the buyer paid but the order did not update, fix the webhook secret first. Eventonomy Pro also re-checks stale pending Stripe orders hourly, which needs working background tasks. See Reminders and Background Jobs.
