Taking Notes
This is what a learner sees and does while studying.
Where the note icon appears
Section titled “Where the note icon appears”The floating note icon appears on the front end when all of these are true:
- The learner is logged in.
- The current page is an LMS post type that is enabled for notes (course, lesson, topic, quiz, or assignment, depending on your LMS and settings).
- The learner is enrolled in the related course (open/free LearnDash courses are excluded).
- The note icon is enabled and the learner’s role is allowed to create notes.
By default the icon sits at the bottom-right of the screen. Its position, color, image, and animation are all controlled in General Settings.
Create a note
Section titled “Create a note”- Click the note icon to open the editor.
- Type a Note Title.
- Write your note in the rich-text editor. You can use bold, italic, underline, lists, alignment, and links.
- (Optional) In Add Labels, type one or more labels separated by commas.
- Click Save Note.
Update a note
Section titled “Update a note”Open the icon again on the same lesson. Your existing note loads automatically. Change anything and click Update Note. The plugin updates the same note rather than creating a new one.
Pop-up vs sticky mode
Section titled “Pop-up vs sticky mode”Depending on the site setting, the editor either:
- Pop-up - opens as a movable dialog over the page (you can drag it by its header), or
- Sticky - stays docked on the page.
View all your notes
Section titled “View all your notes”The editor includes a View All Notes link that opens your My Notes page, where every note you have written is listed. See Managing your notes.
