Notes Pages and Redirects

Issues with the My Notes / All Notes pages or with being sent back to the home page.

I keep getting redirected to the home page

LMS Notes redirects certain visitors away from notes content by design:

  • A single note page - if you are not logged in, or you are logged in but the note is not yours and you are not an admin/instructor/group leader for that student, you are redirected home.
  • The My Notes page ([lcn_notes]) - logged-out visitors are redirected home. Log in first.
  • The All Notes page ([lms_instructor_notes]) - only admins, instructors/teachers, and LearnDash group leaders may view it; everyone else is redirected home.

If a legitimate instructor is redirected, confirm they have the correct role for your LMS and that they are assigned to the relevant courses. See Instructor and admin notes.

The My Notes or All Notes page is missing

Both pages are created on first activation. If a page was deleted:

  1. Create a new page and add the correct shortcode - [lcn_notes] for My Notes, [lms_instructor_notes] for All Notes.
  2. Publish it.
  3. Select it under WB Plugins > LMS Notes > General > Page Mapping and save.

The /notes/ URL sends me to the home page

The single-note archive at /notes/ is intentionally redirected to the home page. Individual notes still open at their own URLs; only the archive listing is disabled.

A note list looks out of date

Each learner’s note for a content item is cached for up to 12 hours. Deleting a note clears its cache automatically. If a list still looks stale, clear any page/object cache on your site.
