General Settings

All settings live under WB Plugins > LMS Notes > General in the WordPress admin. This page covers behavior and access; see Appearance for the visual options and Page mapping for the notes pages.

Turns the floating note icon on or off site-wide.

Option Effect
Enable The note icon appears automatically on allowed LMS pages.
Disable The icon is hidden globally. Use the [lms_notes] shortcode to show it only where you want it.

(Shown only when LearnDash is active.) When on, a learner’s notes appear in the LearnDash profile section (on the page that uses the [ld_profile] shortcode), after their course progress.

(Shown only when LearnDash and the LD Dashboard add-on are active.) Adds a My Notes item to the LearnDash Dashboard navigation and shows notes under its Notes tab.

Choose which user roles may create notes. Only the selected roles see the note icon and editor. Administrators can always create notes. By default, all non-administrator roles are selected.

Lists the LMS post types detected from your active LMS plugin(s) - for example LearnDash Course/Lesson/Topic/Quiz/Assignment, LifterLMS Course/Lesson, Tutor Course/Lesson, Sensei Course/Lesson, and LearnPress Course/Lesson/Quiz. Tick a post type to keep the note icon on it; leave it unticked to hide the icon there.

Enable note creation on other public post types on your site (outside the core LMS types). Select the post types that should also show the note icon.

When on (and BuddyPress or BuddyBoss is active), members get a Notes tab on their profile and a Notes entry in the account admin-bar menu, showing their own notes.

Click Save Changes at the bottom of the tab to store your settings.
