Private Message Moderation
Private message moderation lets a member report an inappropriate private message. Messages stay private unless a recipient chooses to report one, at which point that message becomes visible to moderators for review.
For members
Section titled “For members”- Open the conversation and locate the flag button on the message. Its position depends on the theme.
- Choose a reason in the report modal. Private message report reasons are managed under Categorize By Report → Private message report types and default to the shared reason list.
- Submit. The report is sent to the admins and appears in the Moderation queue.
Only the reported message is exposed to moderators, not the rest of the conversation.
For admins and moderators
Section titled “For admins and moderators”Reported messages appear in the Moderation queue with the sender, reporter, report count, and reason. From a report you can view the message, hide it, clean up the report, delete it, or restrict the sender.
Notifications
Section titled “Notifications”Admins and selected moderators receive an email and a BuddyPress notification when a message is reported, based on the General → Email and Notification settings.
