Getting Started
BuddyPress Moderation Pro adds community self-moderation to BuddyPress. Members flag inappropriate content with one click, admins and moderators review the reports, and the plugin can auto-hide content once it passes a report threshold you set.
What you can moderate
Section titled “What you can moderate”- Activity updates and activity comments
- Members (profiles) and member-to-member blocking
- Groups
- Private messages
- bbPress topics and replies
- Profile avatars and group avatars (upload approval)
Requirements
Section titled “Requirements”- WordPress 5.0 or higher
- BuddyPress (required)
- bbPress (only needed for forum topic and reply moderation)
- PHP 7.4 or higher
Supported themes: Reign, BuddyX, and BuddyX Pro.
Installation
Section titled “Installation”- Upload the plugin to
/wp-content/plugins/buddypress-moderation-pro/, or install the zip from Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin. - Activate it through the Plugins menu. BuddyPress must be active first, or the plugin deactivates itself with a notice.
- Go to WB Plugins → Moderation Pro to configure. On activation you are redirected here automatically.
- Add your license key on the plugin’s license screen to receive updates.
Settings tabs
Section titled “Settings tabs”The settings screen lives at WB Plugins → Moderation Pro and has these tabs.
- Welcome - Overview and support links.
- General - Flag/unflag button text, the roles allowed to report content, the optional Community Moderator role, and admin email/notification recipients.
- Restrictions - Automatic moderation threshold, reported-content visibility, and per-component auto-moderation.
- Avatar Moderation - Member avatar and group avatar upload approval, with approval and rejection emails.
- Categorize By Report - The report reasons members can choose per content type.
Admin menus added
Section titled “Admin menus added”- WB Plugins → Moderation Pro - The settings screen above.
- Moderation - The queue of reported content (activities, comments, members, groups, messages, topics, replies).
- Avatar Mods - Pending profile and group avatars awaiting approval.
- Users → All Users - Adds an Account Locked column and per-member restriction controls.
Quick start
Section titled “Quick start”- Open the General tab and choose which user roles may report content, then set your notification recipients.
- Open the Restrictions tab and set the automatic moderation limit (default 5) and who stops seeing reported content.
- Open Categorize By Report and adjust the report reasons for each content type.
- If you want upload approval, enable it under Avatar Moderation.
