Quick Setup
Initial Configuration
Section titled “Initial Configuration”After activating WP Stories, open WP Stories from the WB Plugins menu in your WordPress admin sidebar. The page opens on an Overview screen, with the settings organized into tabs: General, Displaying Options, User Publishing, Styling Options, and Integrations (plus Discover, Support, and License). On a phone the tabs sit in one row you can swipe sideways.
Start with the General tab to choose your story display style (Square, List, or Instagram) and configure privacy settings. Then visit the User Publishing tab to set which user roles can create stories and configure upload limits.
Adding Stories to a Page
Section titled “Adding Stories to a Page”To display the story feed on any page, add the [wb-story-activities] shortcode using the block editor or classic editor. This shortcode shows members’ stories (the 50 most recent) in the display style you selected.
If you want users to be able to create stories directly from that page, use the shortcode with the form parameter enabled:
[wb-story-activities form="1"]Creating Your First Story
Section titled “Creating Your First Story”With form="1" on the shortcode, logged-in members see a Your story circle at the start of the stories row. Tapping it opens the posting form, where they can:
- Add photos or videos.
- Edit a photo with the built-in photo editor (crop, rotate, draw, text, filters and more).
- Optionally add a link and link text, or a duration, to each item.
- Choose who can see it.
- Tap Share.
The story appears according to the Default Publication Status on the User Publishing tab (Published, Draft, Pending Review, or Private). The full member walkthrough is in Post a story.
If You Use BuddyPress, PeepSo, or BuddyBoss
Section titled “If You Use BuddyPress, PeepSo, or BuddyBoss”Open WP Stories (WB Plugins menu) and select the Integrations tab to enable the relevant integration. This adds stories to activity feeds, member profiles, and unlocks social features like friends-only visibility.
