Introduction

BuddyPress Business Profile turns your BuddyPress community into a business directory. Members create Facebook-style business pages that live alongside their personal profiles, and visitors can browse, search, follow, review, and contact those businesses.

How it fits together

Each business is a WordPress custom post type (business) that is paired one-to-one with a hidden BuddyPress group. That pairing is what powers the social features:

Following a business Membership of the business’s hidden group
Team members Group admins and moderators
Business activity Activity linked to the group

Because businesses are a public custom post type, they also get archive pages, categories, and structured data for search engines, without needing BuddyPress xProfile fields. Business details (contact, hours, services, and so on) are stored as post meta on each business, not as xProfile data.
