Reviews and Ratings

Configure the review system and moderate submitted reviews.

  • Reviews use a 5-star rating system.
  • You can define custom rating criteria (Quality, Service, Value, and so on), and each criteria gets its own star rating.
  • The overall rating shown on a business is the average of submitted ratings.
  • Business owners and site admins can reply to reviews.
  • Reviews are stored as WordPress comments on the business post, so they use the standard comment moderation states.

Go to WB Plugins > Business Profile > Review Criteria to create the rating categories shown on the review form.

  1. Click Add Review Criteria
  2. Enter the criteria name (for example, “Quality”)
  3. Toggle the switch to enable or disable the criteria
  4. Reorder criteria by dragging the handle
  5. Click Save Changes

Disabled criteria are hidden from the review form, but existing data for them is preserved.

The plugin ships with default criteria on activation. Keep the list short (three to five criteria) so the form stays quick to fill in.

Control how many times a member can review the same business.

Setting Description Default
Review Submission Limit Per Member Maximum reviews per member per business 1

By default a review is tied to a member account, which keeps reviewers accountable and enforces the per-member limit. Guest reviews are supported where the site allows them: a guest supplies a name and email, and the review may require approval before it appears.

Reviews are moderated at Business > Reviews, a list table with the standard comment states.

Author (name, email, IP), Rating, Review content and replies, Business, Type (review or reply), and Submitted date.

  1. Check pending reviews regularly and approve genuine feedback promptly.
  2. Respond to negative reviews professionally and offer to resolve issues offline.
  3. Do not delete a review only because it is negative; remove spam, not criticism.
  4. Watch for patterns of similar low-quality reviews that indicate spam.
