Maps and Location
Configure the map provider and location search for your directory.
Go to WB Plugins > Business Profile > Map Settings.
Choose a Map Provider
Section titled “Choose a Map Provider”OpenStreetMap (Free)
Section titled “OpenStreetMap (Free)”No API key required.
- Select OpenStreetMap as the provider
- Click Save Changes
- Maps work immediately
Benefits: completely free, no usage limits, no key management, community-maintained data.
Google Maps
Section titled “Google Maps”Requires a Google Maps API key.
- Select Google Maps as the provider
- Enter your API key
- Click Save Changes
To get a key: create a project in the Google Cloud Console, enable the Maps JavaScript API and the Places API (for address search), then create an API key. Google may charge once you pass its free tier, and billing must be enabled on the project.
Search Settings

The radius setting accepts multiple comma-separated values so visitors can choose their preferred search distance.
How Businesses Add Location
Section titled “How Businesses Add Location”Business owners enter their address in their business Settings > Contact Information (street, city, state or province, postal code, country). The plugin converts the address to map coordinates, and owners can adjust coordinates manually if the pin is wrong.
Recommendation
Section titled “Recommendation”For most sites, OpenStreetMap is the better default: zero cost, no key management, and it works immediately. Choose Google Maps only if you need Street View, advanced map styling, or deeper Google Places integration.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”- Map not showing (OpenStreetMap): clear the browser cache and confirm JavaScript is enabled.
- Map not showing (Google Maps): verify the API key, confirm the required APIs are enabled, and confirm billing is set up.
- Wrong location: ask the owner to verify the address, or adjust the coordinates manually.
