Business Claims and Moderation
Review ownership claims and moderate business listings from the WordPress admin.
Business Claims
Section titled “Business Claims”The claim feature lets a member take ownership of an existing unclaimed business, which is useful when an admin imports listings that need owners.
Enable Claims
Section titled “Enable Claims”- Go to WB Plugins > Business Profile > General Settings
- Turn on Enable Business Claiming
- Click Save Changes
Review Claims
Section titled “Review Claims”Go to Business > Claims to see all pending, approved, and rejected claims. Claim requests are stored in a dedicated database table, and each claim shows the business, the claimant, the submission date, the verification details provided, and the status.
Approve or Reject
Section titled “Approve or Reject”- Approve - The claimant becomes the business owner with full admin access, the business ownership is reassigned, and the claimant is emailed a confirmation.
- Reject - The claim is marked rejected, your notes are recorded, ownership is unchanged, and the claimant is notified. They can submit a new claim later.
Verification Tips
Section titled “Verification Tips”Before approving, confirm the claimant’s connection to the business, for example whether their email matches the business domain, whether they can prove website access, or whether they can supply a business license or registration.
Moderating Businesses
Section titled “Moderating Businesses”Manage listings under the Business admin menu: All Businesses, Add New, Categories, Business Types, Reviews, and Claims.
Business List Columns
Section titled “Business List Columns”Title, Owner, Verified status, Category, Phone, City, Views, and Date.
Statuses

Require Approval Before Publishing
Section titled “Require Approval Before Publishing”Businesses can be set to Pending on creation so an admin reviews them first. This can be enforced with a filter (see the Developer Guide), then changed to Published after review.
Editing a Business
Section titled “Editing a Business”Editing a business in the admin exposes meta boxes for Contact Information, Location, Business Hours, Social Media, Services, Categories, and the Featured Image. The Author meta box shows and can reassign the owner.
Verification Badge
Section titled “Verification Badge”Mark a business as verified from its Verification meta box to show a trust badge on its listing and profile.
Deleting Businesses
Section titled “Deleting Businesses”Trashing a business hides its backing group and is reversible. Permanently deleting a business also removes its BuddyPress group, follower relationships, activity posts, and reviews.
