PRO - requires MediaShield Pro.
See who is watching right now, which video, how far in, and on what device. Use it during a live launch or to check that a new lesson plays for real people.
Why use it
Section titled “Why use it”During a launch or a live class you can see that real people are watching and that a new lesson plays. You do not wait for the end-of-day numbers.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- Viewers must be watching in the MediaShield player with a protection level that records a session (Standard or Strict).
- You need the Administrator role.
Open the screen
Section titled “Open the screen”- Go to MediaShield > Realtime.
- The header shows how many viewers are active, for example “3 active viewers right now”. With nobody watching it says “No one is watching right now.”
- The list refreshes by itself every 15 seconds (“Auto-refreshes every 15s”). The line “Updated” shows when it last refreshed.
What each row shows
Section titled “What each row shows”| Column | What it means |
|---|---|
| Viewer | The person’s name and avatar initials. Guests appear without a name |
| Video | The video title |
| Progress | How far through the video the viewer is, as a percentage |
| Device | Device type and browser |
| Watching for | How long this session has lasted |
Who counts as “active”
Section titled “Who counts as “active””A session is active when its last heartbeat arrived within the last 5 minutes. The player sends a heartbeat about every 30 seconds while the video plays. A viewer who closes the tab disappears from the list within a few minutes, not instantly. Newest sessions are listed first.
What viewers see
Section titled “What viewers see”This is an admin screen. Viewers see nothing, and being listed does not change their playback.
Settings and options for this feature
Section titled “Settings and options for this feature”There are no settings. The 5 minute window and the 15 second refresh are fixed.
Next steps
Section titled “Next steps”- Read the heatmap once viewers have finished.
- Check flagged activity.
If the list is empty while someone is watching, see Troubleshooting.
