Reference Library

Your references live in a dedicated library you can browse, organize, search, and reorder.

  • In the admin, open References to see every reference with columns for type, authors, year, and identifiers.
  • On the front end, references have a public archive at /references/ and a single-reference view for each entry.

Two taxonomies help you organize references:

  • Reference Categories - broad groupings (for example, by topic or project).
  • Reference Tags - lighter, free-form labels.

Assign them on the reference edit screen, or manage them under the References menu. Both work as filters when browsing.

Collections group references for a purpose - a paper, a course, a reading list - independent of categories and tags.

  • Add references to one or more collections.
  • Keep a collection private, make it public, or share it with specific people.
  • Search references by title, author, year, DOI, PMID, or ISBN.
  • Fuzzy search tolerates small typos and near matches.
  • Search suggestions offer completions as you type.
  • Sort by the available sort options (such as title, date, or author).
  • Reorder references manually where a fixed order matters (for example, a curated list).
