Create a Service
This page walks through building a service product from the WordPress admin.
- Go to Downloads, Add New.
- Give the service a title, description, and price as you would any Easy Digital Downloads product. Variable pricing is supported.
- In the Download Details box, set Product Type to “Service”.
- The “EDD Services” box appears. Set Estimate Delivery Time to the number of days you commit to delivering in.
- Under “Add Your Question”, click “Add Question” and add the intake questions the buyer must answer. Choose a field type per question (Text Box, Text Area with Editor, Text Area, Upload, DropDown, Checkbox, or Radio Buttons), add a description, and set the Required toggle. See Requirement Questions for the field types.
- Optionally, under “Assign Users”, pick additional users who may also work the order conversation. Only administrators, shop managers, shop vendors, shop workers, and shop accountants appear in this list.
- Publish the product.
Reusing questions
Section titled “Reusing questions”If you have already built a similar service, use “Save as requirement template?” on the source product, then “Import requirement template” on the new product to load the same questions. See Requirement Templates.
Adding a service to a bundle
Section titled “Adding a service to a bundle”Service products can be added to Easy Digital Downloads bundle products. When editing a bundle, the product picker includes service products alongside regular downloads.
Creating services from the frontend
Section titled “Creating services from the frontend”If you run Easy Digital Downloads Frontend Submissions, vendors can create services from the vendor dashboard. A checkbox labelled “Enable product type as service” exposes the requirement builder inside the FES submission form, and saving the form with it checked marks the product as a service. Enable the “show additional vendor/support agent/co-author on frontend form” setting to let vendors assign additional users from that same form.
