Quick Start

This walkthrough takes you from a fresh install to a working service order.

1. Activate your license

EDD Sell Services is a premium plugin and uses Easy Digital Downloads Software Licensing for updates. Open WP Plugins, EDD Sell Services, License, paste your license key, and activate it. A valid, active license is what enables update checks.

2. Confirm the Manage Order page

Activation creates a page named “Manage Order” holding the [edd_sell_services_manage_order] shortcode, and stores it in the general setting “Manage order page”. Open WP Plugins, EDD Sell Services, General and confirm the correct page is selected. This page renders both the buyer order list and the single order conversation screen.

3. Review the general settings

On the General tab set the options that shape the flow, for example whether buyers are redirected to the conversation page after ordering, whether conversation emails and live notifications are enabled, and how many days pass before an unaccepted delivery is auto completed. See Settings Reference for every field.

4. Create a service product

1. Add a new Download in Easy Digital Downloads.
2. In the Download Details box set Product Type to “Service”. This option is added by EDD Sell Services.
3. In the “EDD Services” box set an estimated delivery time and add the requirement questions you want buyers to answer.
4. Optionally assign additional users (co-authors or support agents) who can also handle the order conversation.
5. Publish the product.

5. Test a purchase

1. Buy the service as a customer (use a separate account, because a seller cannot buy their own service product; the purchase button is hidden for the author).
2. The order is set to processing and moves to the “Waiting For Requirement” state.
3. Open the Manage Order page, fill the requirement form, and submit it. The order moves to “Work In Progress”.
4. As the seller, exchange messages and send a final delivery. The order moves to “Waiting For Approval”.
5. As the buyer, accept the delivery. The payment is completed and the order moves to “Waiting For Review”.
6. Leave a star review. The order moves to “Order Complete”.
