Submitting and Editing Reviews
This page covers what members do: leaving a review, editing it, reporting a review, and how notifications reach the reviewed member.
Leaving a review
Section titled “Leaving a review”- Open another member’s profile.
- Click the Reviews tab, then Add Review. If directory ratings are enabled, an Add Review button also appears on the members directory so you can start without opening the profile.
- Rate each criterion using the star widget. The star input is keyboard operable: use the arrow keys to change the value and Enter or Space to set it.
- Write an optional text review.
- Submit.
Notes:
- You cannot review your own profile. Self-reviews are blocked.
- Whether you can review the same member more than once depends on the Enable Multi Reviews setting (on by default).
- If Auto Approve Reviews is off, your review stays pending until an admin approves it.
- “Reviews” is the default label. If the site owner renames the plural label under Display settings, the tab and its URL slug change to match.
Anonymous reviews
Section titled “Anonymous reviews”If the site owner enables anonymous reviews, the form offers an anonymous option. An anonymous review hides the reviewer’s name, avatar, and profile link from public view. Administrators can still see the real author in the admin.
Editing your review
Section titled “Editing your review”Editing is available when the Allow update setting is on (on by default). You can only edit reviews you wrote.
- Go to the profile where you left the review and open the Reviews tab.
- Find your review and click Edit Review (it appears only on your own reviews).
- A form opens with your existing rating and text.
- Adjust the stars or the text and save.
Editing requires JavaScript. Members cannot delete their own reviews; only administrators can remove reviews.
Reporting a review
Section titled “Reporting a review”When reporting is enabled, click Report below any review, pick a reason (spam or fake review, harassment or abuse, inappropriate content, or conflict of interest), and submit. Reviews that pass the report threshold are hidden automatically pending admin review. See Moderation and Reporting.
Getting notified about reviews you receive
Section titled “Getting notified about reviews you receive”When someone reviews your profile you get a BuddyPress notification, and an email if email notifications are enabled. Both are controlled by the site owner on the General tab. As the profile owner you can reply once to each review; see Owner Replies.
