Features Overview

BuddyPress Member Reviews gives your community a reputation system. Members review each other, give star ratings, and every member builds an average rating that others can see. This page lists what the plugin does. Each feature links to a page with the details.

Reviews and ratings on profiles

• Every member profile gets a Reviews tab with a count of the reviews received.
• A review has a star rating (1 to 5 stars) and, optionally, written text.
• You decide what is rated: one overall rating, or several named criteria such as “Communication” and “Quality”. See Star Ratings and Criteria.
• Each member gets an average rating that shows in the profile header, so visitors see it at a glance.
• Members cannot review themselves.
• Members can edit their own reviews (you can turn this off), but they cannot delete them.
• A member can be allowed to review the same person more than once, or only once. You choose.

Control over who reviews whom

• Pick the member roles that are allowed to write reviews and the member roles that can receive them.
• Optionally let reviewers post anonymously. The reviewer’s name and picture are hidden from members. See Turn on anonymous reviews.

Moderation you control

• Choose whether reviews go live immediately or wait for your approval.
• Members can report a review they think is inappropriate.
• A review that gets enough reports is hidden automatically until you look at it.
• You see reported and auto-hidden reviews in one place and decide what happens to them.

Replies from the reviewed member

The member who received a review can answer it once. The answer shows right under the review, labeled “Owner Response”. See Owner Replies.

Emails, notifications and the activity stream

• The reviewed member gets an email and a BuddyPress notification.
• You get an email when a review needs approval.
• Reviews can be posted to the BuddyPress activity stream.

Show ratings around your site

• Star ratings in the members directory (on by default).
• An Add Review button in the profile header (off by default).
• Two widgets and one shortcode to list top members. See Shortcodes and Widgets.
• Your own wording (for example “Testimonial” instead of “Review”) and your own star color. See Change the wording and star color.

Compatibility

• Works with BuddyPress 6.0 or higher and BuddyBoss Platform 1.8 or higher.
• Includes support for the BuddyPress Nouveau and Legacy templates, the BuddyBoss members directory, and Youzify profile headers.
• Translations included: German, French, Spanish, Italian and Brazilian Portuguese. Right-to-left languages are supported.
