The plugin deactivated itself
Section titled “The plugin deactivated itself”BuddyLists requires BuddyPress or BuddyBoss Platform. If neither is active, BuddyLists deactivates and shows an admin notice. Install and activate one of those platforms, then reactivate BuddyLists.
The Lists tab does not appear on profiles
Section titled “The Lists tab does not appear on profiles”- Confirm BuddyPress or BuddyBoss Platform is active.
- In General settings, confirm “Show Lists Tab” is set to yes.
- Confirm the viewing user’s role is allowed to use lists (check the role settings under General and Visibility).
- Clear any page or object cache.
Public list URLs return a 404
Section titled “Public list URLs return a 404”Public list pages depend on a rewrite rule. After changing the Lists slug the rules are flushed automatically, but if URLs still 404:
- Go to Settings > Permalinks and click Save Changes once to flush rewrite rules.
- Confirm the URL uses the current Lists slug from General settings.
Cannot add a member to a list
Section titled “Cannot add a member to a list”- Check whether the per-list member limit has been reached.
- Confirm the user you are adding still exists and is active.
- You cannot add yourself to your own list, and you cannot add the same member twice.
Cannot create more lists
Section titled “Cannot create more lists”The per-user lists limit in General settings may have been reached. Raise the limit or remove an existing list. Administrators are not blocked by role limits.
“Rate limit exceeded” message
Section titled ““Rate limit exceeded” message”Write actions are capped per minute (10 list creates, 20 group messages, 30 for other actions). Wait a moment and try again. This protects the site from rapid repeated requests.
Activity feed is empty on a list
Section titled “Activity feed is empty on a list”- Confirm the BuddyPress Activity component is active.
- Confirm the list has members.
- Confirm those members have posted activity.
Group message button is missing
Section titled “Group message button is missing”Group messaging needs both the “Direct Message” setting enabled in General settings and the BuddyPress or BuddyBoss messaging component active.
The Activity Management tab is missing from settings
Section titled “The Activity Management tab is missing from settings”That tab appears only when a follow plugin is active or list activity is otherwise relevant to the site. Activate a compatible follow plugin to reveal it.
A private list shows the wrong access message
Section titled “A private list shows the wrong access message”The message shown to visitors without access is the “Private list message” in Visibility settings. Edit it there.
