Integrations

BuddyLists works with BuddyPress and BuddyBoss Platform, and adds behaviour when certain companion plugins or components are active. No configuration is needed beyond activating them.

One of these must be active for BuddyLists features to run.

Follow plugins

When a follow feature is active (BuddyPress Follow, or the BuddyBoss follow feature), each person on a list shows a Follow button. The button can be switched off with Follow button under WB Plugins > BuddyLists > Visibility. That row appears only when a follow feature is active.

Follower and following counts are read from the active platform: BuddyBoss counts on BuddyBoss, BuddyPress Follow counts when that plugin is present, and zero otherwise.

Following a list is separate. It is part of BuddyLists, needs no follow plugin and is not affected by the Follow button setting.

Messaging

The Message link on each member row uses the BuddyPress Messages component. When that component is off, the link is not shown. BuddyLists does not send messages itself.

Friends

With the BuddyPress Friends component active:

• Adding members can be set to “The owner and their friends”.
• Suggest from can be set to “Only their own friends”, which is the default.

Each person on a list also shows the BuddyPress add-friend button.

Notifications

On-site notices for being added to or removed from a list are BuddyPress notifications. They need the BuddyPress Notifications component. The Notifications screen warns you when that component is off.

BuddyPress activity add-ons

List pages render standard BuddyPress activity, so activity add-ons keep working inside a list feed. BuddyLists loads the assets for these on list pages:

• BuddyPress Polls.
• BuddyPress Reactions.
• BuddyPress Activity Share Pro, including the share popup.
• BuddyPress Moderation Pro.

Themes

BuddyLists draws its own buttons and fields, so it looks right on any theme in light or dark mode. On Reign, the theme’s own page banner is not printed above the list banner. Your own colors under Colors apply on Reign and BuddyX Pro. Right-to-left sites get a right-to-left stylesheet.
