External Files, CDN, and Streaming
You are not limited to files uploaded to your own site. Pro can play a preview from an external URL, embed players for two streaming services, and optionally route local files through a CDN host.
Supported audio formats
Section titled “Supported audio formats”Uploaded and direct files can be: mp3, wav, ogg, oga, m4a, aac, flac, wma, opus.
External and cloud URLs
Section titled “External and cloud URLs”Paste a direct link into an audio row instead of uploading a file. When you paste a URL in the product editor, Pro detects whether it belongs to a known service and confirms it inline. Detected services are:
- Google Drive
- Dropbox
- SoundCloud
- Amazon S3
- CloudFront
- OneDrive
- Box
- MediaFire
How each plays:
- Google Drive links render as an embedded Google Drive player.
- SoundCloud links render as an embedded SoundCloud widget.
- The other services play through the normal audio player using a direct playback URL.
For a link to play in the normal player it must be a direct link to the audio file, not a share or preview page.
CDN rewrite for local files
Section titled “CDN rewrite for local files”The Advanced tab has a separate CDN option for files hosted on your own site:
- Turn on Enable CDN Support.
- In Trusted Domains, add your CDN host, one per line.
When this is on and at least one domain is set, the player rewrites your site host to the first trusted domain in the audio source URL, so local files are served from the CDN. This is independent of the external-service detection above.
Performance options
Section titled “Performance options”On the Advanced tab, Preload Strategy and Lazy Loading control how and when audio is fetched. See The Audio Player for how these behave, including that Lazy Loading takes precedence over Preload Strategy.
