Do I need BuddyPress installed?
Section titled “Do I need BuddyPress installed?”Yes. You need BuddyPress or BuddyBoss Platform installed and active, with the Activity component enabled. The plugin deactivates itself if neither is present, and cannot run alongside BuddyPress Check-ins Pro.
Is the plugin free?
Section titled “Is the plugin free?”Yes, the core plugin is free. A Pro version adds group location fields, maps on member and group directories, XProfile location mapping, and OpenStreetMap support.
Why do I need a Google API key?
Section titled “Why do I need a Google API key?”The plugin uses Google Maps to show location suggestions while typing, to look up addresses, and to display the map under a check-in. Google requires an API key for these services, and the check-in icon does not appear until a key is set.
Which Google APIs do I enable?
Section titled “Which Google APIs do I enable?”Maps JavaScript API, Places API, Geocoding API, and Maps Embed API. Google also requires a billing account on the project, even for free-tier usage.
How do I add a check-in?
Section titled “How do I add a check-in?”Start an activity update, click the map-pin icon, type and select a location, then post. See Posting a Check-in.
Can I check in from a group?
Section titled “Can I check in from a group?”Yes. The location panel appears on a group’s activity form, and the check-in shows in both the group activity and your own activity.
Where do I see my past check-ins?
Section titled “Where do I see my past check-ins?”On your profile, open the Check-ins tab (your admin may have renamed it). It lists the places you saved while checking in. See The Check-ins Tab.
Can I stop a check-in from being saved to my tab?
Section titled “Can I stop a check-in from being saved to my tab?”Yes. Untick “Add this location to Check-ins tab” in the location panel before posting. It is ticked by default.
Can I edit a check-in after posting?
Section titled “Can I edit a check-in after posting?”On communities where BuddyPress activity editing is available, edit the activity to change or clear the location. Otherwise, delete the post and create a new one.
Are check-ins visible to everyone?
Section titled “Are check-ins visible to everyone?”They follow the activity’s own privacy. A public post has a public check-in; a group post is visible to that group.
Is my location tracked automatically?
Section titled “Is my location tracked automatically?”No. A location is recorded only when you add one to a post. There is no background tracking.
Does the plugin work with BuddyBoss?
Section titled “Does the plugin work with BuddyBoss?”Yes, it is compatible with both BuddyPress and BuddyBoss Platform.
How do I rename or hide the Check-ins tab?
Section titled “How do I rename or hide the Check-ins tab?”Go to WB Plugins > Check-ins > General. Untick “Enable Check-ins Tab” to hide it, or set “Rename Check-ins Tab” to change its label.
