The plugin deactivated itself
Section titled “The plugin deactivated itself”LearnDash wpForo requires both LearnDash and wpForo to be active. If either is deactivated, the integration deactivates too and shows a notice. Reactivate both required plugins, then activate LearnDash wpForo again.
A student can’t access a forum they should have access to
Section titled “A student can’t access a forum they should have access to”- Confirm the student is actually enrolled in the linked course (LearnDash → the course → students).
- Check the forum’s Post Limit Access mode. In All mode the student needs access to every linked course, not just one.
- Re-save the forum (or the course) to force a reconcile — this rebuilds the usergroup and backfills current enrollees.
- Administrators and the course author always have access; if only they can get in, the mapping is working and the issue is the student’s enrollment.
A student still has access after being unenrolled
Section titled “A student still has access after being unenrolled”Access is revoked on the LearnDash unenroll event. If it did not update, re-save the mapping to reconcile the forum. Also confirm the unenrollment actually removed course access in LearnDash rather than just changing a group.
My old mappings disappeared after upgrading
Section titled “My old mappings disappeared after upgrading”Old mappings are stored as ld_forum_* / ld_board_forum_* options and are migrated into the new mapping table automatically on the first admin request after upgrading. If a forum still shows no linked courses, open it and re-save — the front end falls back to the legacy option until a mapping row exists, so access itself keeps working during migration.
Changes to a linked forum don’t show in the widget
Section titled “Changes to a linked forum don’t show in the widget”The Course wpForo Forum widget caches its forum list per course for 5 minutes. After linking or unlinking, wait out the window or clear your object cache to see the change immediately.
Non-enrolled users can see the forum in the forum list
Section titled “Non-enrolled users can see the forum in the forum list”This is expected. The plugin restricts reading and replying inside topics; it does not remove the forum’s name from wpForo’s own forum index. Use a private privacy mode and leave Forum View unticked so the topic content is blocked.
A private forum shows default (open) permissions
Section titled “A private forum shows default (open) permissions”Privacy in Automatic mode depends on the course price type. A course set to free or open resolves to public. Set the course to a closed/paid type, or set the forum’s privacy to Always Private explicitly, then re-save.
Nothing happens when I save the forum settings box
Section titled “Nothing happens when I save the forum settings box”The box saves during wpForo’s own cache-clear step on add/edit. Make sure you are on the wpForo Forums edit screen (not a wpForo settings page) and that you have the manage_options capability. If you just created a brand-new forum, the plugin attaches the mapping to the most recently created forum id — save again from the forum’s edit view if it landed on the wrong one.
