Quote mode on the General tab decides the broad rule - all products, or a list you picked. This screen carves exceptions out of that rule.

Every control here is an exclusion. It takes products out of quoting. None of them adds products back in, and none of them restricts quoting to a particular group of products.

What you can exclude

Exclude Product Categories

Tick a category and its products can no longer be quoted. Select All and Deselect All are there for stores with a long category list. The count beside each name is how many products are in it.

Exclude Product Tags

The same, by tag.

Price Range Exclusions

Section titled “Price Range Exclusions”

Set Min Price and Max Price. Products priced outside that range are excluded. Useful when low-value items should just be bought normally and only larger orders are worth quoting.

Leave Min at 0 and Max high to apply no price rule. A negative minimum is clamped to zero, so it cannot save and then quietly do nothing.

Stock-Based Exclusions

  • Exclude out of stock products - a product with no stock cannot be quoted.
  • Exclude low stock products below N in stock - set your own threshold.

Exclude Product Types

Tick Virtual Products, Downloadable Products or Variable Products to exclude that whole type.

Press Save Changes to apply.

Showing the quote button only on out-of-stock products

There is no setting for this, and the one that sounds like it does the opposite.

This comes up often enough to state plainly. The stock control on this screen is Exclude out of stock products - ticking it means an out-of-stock product can no longer be quoted. There is no “only out of stock” option, and there is no “Single Product pages” screen.

If what you want is “let people ask about the things I have run out of, and buy everything else normally”, that is a real and reasonable goal, but it is not one of the settings above. Get there with a small snippet instead:

wcpq_product_quotable is the plugin’s own decision about a single product, applied after quote mode and before the button is rendered, so returning false hides the button and returning true shows it.

Pair it with Hide add to cart button off, so in-stock products keep their normal Add to cart and only the out-of-stock ones offer a quote.

Which products am I actually offering?

Quote mode and these exclusions combine, and it is easy to end up excluding more than you meant. The quickest check is the storefront: open a product you expect to be quotable and one you expect not to be, and look. The Overview tab also reports how many products are currently quotable under your settings.
