BuddyPress Activity

BuddyVendor can post to the community activity stream when marketplace events happen, so the feed reflects what vendors and shoppers are doing. All activity features require the BuddyPress or BuddyBoss Activity component to be active.

Activity types

BuddyVendor generates three kinds of activity, each with its own on/off setting:

Product creation

When a vendor publishes a new product (a product post transitions to publish), BuddyVendor posts an activity such as “Vendor added a new product: Product”. The activity is registered under the type buddyvendor_product. If the product’s author changes (for example, when the store owner reassigns a Dokan/WCFM/WC Vendors/Product Vendors product to a different vendor), the existing activity’s user and action text are updated to match the new owner rather than creating a duplicate.

Product review

When a product review (comment) is posted, or when a held review is later approved, BuddyVendor posts an activity such as “Reviewer reviewed Product”. The activity type is buddyvendor_review. On BuddyBoss, BuddyVendor attaches link-preview data so the reviewed product renders with its image, title, and excerpt.

Order placement

When a logged-in customer completes checkout (the WooCommerce thank-you step), BuddyVendor can post “Customer placed an order” with links to the purchased products. Products hidden from the catalog are skipped, and the activity is not created twice for the same order. Order activity is off until you enable it and the member enables their own purchase-activity preference.

Controls that gate activity

Each activity type is gated by two layers:

1. Site-wide setting in WB Plugins > BuddyVendor > Activity Engagement (product creation, product review, order placement).
2. Member preference in the member’s BuddyVendor Preferences (product creation, product review, product purchase).

Both the site setting and the relevant member preference must be enabled for an activity to be posted.

BuddyBoss note

BuddyBoss Platform has its own product-creation activity. Enabling both BuddyBoss’s option and BuddyVendor’s product-creation activity can produce duplicate posts, so use only one at a time. The settings screen shows a reminder about this, and on activation BuddyVendor leaves product-creation activity off when BuddyBoss is detected.

Youzify note

When Youzify is active, BuddyVendor maps its order activity onto Youzify’s activity_status type and relabels the action so it reads correctly in the Youzify activity stream.
