Quick Start

You can have a private community running in a couple of minutes. Pick the mode that matches how much of your site should stay public.

Lock the whole site

1. Go to WB Plugins > Private Community > Full Protection.
2. Turn on Enable Full Site Lock.
3. Review the whitelist. By default your homepage, the WordPress login page, the registration page, the BuddyPress account activation pages, and the password-reset pages stay public.
4. Save. Every other page now requires login for logged-out visitors.

Lock only part of the site

1. Go to WB Plugins > Private Community > Partial Protection.
2. Check the BuddyPress components you want to protect (Members, Groups, Site Wide Activity, and Blogs on network installs).
3. Add any page URLs you want to protect, one per line. Wildcards such as /docs/* are supported.
4. Save. The rest of your site stays public.

Choose what visitors see

Open the Protection Rules tab and pick one:

• Show Login Form - the built-in login and register form with your restriction message above it.
• Show Custom Content - your own HTML or shortcodes.
• Redirect to Another Page - send visitors to a page you choose.

Test it

Always test as a logged-out visitor. Open the protected URL in a private or incognito browser window, because logged-in users (including you) always bypass protection.

Full Protection always overrides Partial Protection. If Full Protection is on, the Partial Protection rules are ignored.
