Installation and Requirements
Private Community for BuddyPress turns a BuddyPress site into a members-only community by requiring login before a visitor can see protected content.
Requirements
Section titled “Requirements”- WordPress 4.0 or later (tested up to WordPress 6.9).
- BuddyPress installed and active. BuddyPress is a hard dependency: if it is not active, the plugin deactivates itself and shows an admin notice explaining why. BuddyBoss Platform is also detected where BuddyPress functions are present.
- A logged-in administrator account (settings require the
manage_optionscapability).
Install the plugin
Section titled “Install the plugin”- Upload the plugin folder to
/wp-content/plugins/, or install the ZIP from the Plugins screen. - Activate “Wbcom Designs - Private Community for BuddyPress” from the Plugins menu.
- On activation you are redirected to the settings screen automatically. You can return to it any time from WB Plugins > Private Community in the admin sidebar.
A Settings link is also added to the plugin’s row on the Plugins screen.
Where the settings live
Section titled “Where the settings live”The plugin registers a shared WB Plugins top-level menu (used by other Wbcom plugins too) and adds a Private Community entry under it. The settings screen is organised into these tabs:
- Welcome - overview and quick start.
- Partial Protection - lock specific components and page URLs.
- Full Protection - lock the whole site and whitelist public pages.
- Protection Rules - choose what logged-out visitors see.
- Support - help links.
Multisite
Section titled “Multisite”The plugin can be activated per site or network-wide. Each site keeps its own settings. When BuddyPress is network active on a multisite install, a Blogs (Sites) component becomes available in Partial Protection.
