Features Overview

Woo Document Preview Pro is an add-on to the free Document Preview for WooCommerce plugin. The free plugin owns document rendering (its own PDF viewer for PDFs and an online viewer for Office formats), the product document metabox, and the preview button markup. Pro layers store-owner controls and marketplace support on top of that, without adding a second renderer or a second preview.

What Pro adds over the free plugin

  • Preview button placement control. Choose whether the button appears before or after the Add to Cart button.
  • Preview button styling. Set text color, background color, and their hover variants. Colors are applied by overriding the free plugin’s button CSS variables.
  • Allowed file-type restriction. Limit which formats sellers may attach for preview. This is remove-only: it can narrow the base plugin’s supported formats but never adds a format the base does not already support.
  • Allowed category restriction. Only products in the selected product categories show a preview.
  • Multi-vendor marketplace support. Vendors can attach preview documents from their own dashboards in Dokan, WCFM, and WC Vendors. This is the marquee Pro-only capability.
  • Licensed automatic updates. Easy Digital Downloads Software Licensing with a License tab for key activation.
  • Allowed-file-types note on the product metabox title, shown when both a category restriction and a file-type list are configured.

Supported document sources

The set of previewable sources is owned by the free base plugin. Pro can restrict this set but not extend it. As shipped, the store-owner file-type selector offers:

  • Uploaded files: PDF, DOC, DOCX, XLS, XLSX, PPT, PPTX, TXT.
  • Cloud links: Google Docs, Google Sheets, OneDrive, Dropbox.

Google Slides links are also recognized by Pro’s per-document gate when a Google service is permitted.

What Pro does not include

These are intentionally not part of Pro on this release. Document them so support does not promise them:

  • No document rendering of its own. PDFs use the base plugin’s viewer; Office formats use the base plugin’s online viewer. Pro renders no preview and registers no Thickbox modal.
  • No watermarking. There is no watermark or page-limited preview feature.
  • No REST API in Pro. The REST controller lives in the free base plugin, not in Pro.
  • No shortcode and no Gutenberg block in Pro.
  • No separate admin menu. Settings render inside the shared screen the free base provides.
