What's New in 5.1.9

BuddyX 5.1.9 and BuddyX Pro 5.1.9 are maintenance releases focused on dark mode coverage, lighter page loads and a round of accessibility and security fixes. Both themes shipped together in October 2026.

Before you update

• LearnDash sites: BuddyX Pro now requires LearnDash 4.12 or later. See System Requirements for every supported plugin version.
• Dark mode code cleanup: the old LearnDash and dark mode back-compat code was removed. If you override those templates in a child theme, test them after updating.

BuddyX Pro

Improved

• Dark mode now styles the BuddyPress Messages editor.
• The dark mode preference is checked on the server, so only valid light and dark values are accepted.
• Events Calendar list rows show the event category, and WC Vendors vendor list cards show the right icons and product thumbnails.
• Login and register forms have properly associated labels, and icon-only links have an accessible name for screen readers.
• The bbPress scrubber scroll handler is lighter, and moderators see the topic author’s IP in the lead topic.

Fixed

• LearnDash step position and the previous and next links no longer break when the page URL has a query string.
• A stray fonts CSS file in your uploads folder no longer makes a Google font silently disappear.
• The header Log in and Register links no longer lead to a 404 when the page you mapped to them is unpublished.
• Paged day archives no longer crash, and breadcrumbs are no longer cached per first post.
• Archive excerpts are no longer wrapped in a second paragraph, and the unread notification request stops when Notifications is turned off.
• Menu Icons no longer deactivates other plugins on unrelated requests.
• Missing hooks now fire in the bbPress, BuddyBoss and BuddyPress activity overrides.
• The Dokan store location widget hides when it is empty on Dokan 5.3 and later.

Security

• The dark mode and notification AJAX requests now enforce nonces, and the sign-in and sign-up popups sanitize error messages.
• The theme updater escapes its output.

BuddyX (free)

• New: dark mode for the IdeaPush board, form, selects and popups, and WB Gamification follows your BuddyX accent colors.
• Improved: dark mode covers WooCommerce checkout (Blocks and shortcode), classic editors on front-end forms, bbPress posts and WooCommerce country and state fields.
• Improved: the dark mode, slider and site loader stylesheets, and the LearnDash focus-mode dark stylesheet, load only where they are used.
• Fixed: the dark mode choice a visitor made on LearnDash pages in 5.1.8 carries over to the color-mode toggle.
• Fixed: the site loader can no longer cover the site, and the fixed header stays attached to the admin bar on small screens.
• Fixed: the 2-slide gallery on single posts with the Half title layout works again.
• Security: post titles, breadcrumb names and BadgeOS profile output are escaped, and Google font downloads verify SSL.
