Everything below is part of the plugin. Anonymity is applied at display time: the real author is kept in the database for moderation, and only what visitors see is masked.
Anonymous activity posts
Section titled “Anonymous activity posts”A “Post as Anonymous User” checkbox appears below the activity post form for eligible logged-in members. When it is ticked, the activity is saved with is_anonymous meta and shown under your configured anonymous display name.
Anonymous comments
Section titled “Anonymous comments”The same checkbox is injected into activity comment reply forms, so a member can reply to any activity anonymously. Controlled by the Allow Anonymous Comments setting.
Anonymous forum topics and replies
Section titled “Anonymous forum topics and replies”When forum support is enabled, members can post bbPress or BuddyBoss Forums topics and replies anonymously. The plugin loads the bbPress integration for standalone bbPress and the BuddyBoss Forums integration when BuddyBoss Platform is active. The real author is preserved in post meta.
Identity masking
Section titled “Identity masking”For any post marked anonymous, the plugin replaces the author’s display name, avatar, and profile link on the front end. On forum posts it also masks the author’s role label. Widget tooltips and BuddyBoss notification avatars are covered too.
Notification and email suppression
Section titled “Notification and email suppression”BuddyPress and BuddyBoss in-app notifications and emails that would reveal an anonymous poster are blocked and cleaned up. BuddyBoss subscribed-group notifications and on-screen notification text are also suppressed for anonymous activities.
Per-location control
Section titled “Per-location control”Four independent toggles decide where the checkbox appears: sitewide activity directory, group activity, user profile activity, and activity comments. Forums are a separate toggle that only appears when a forum plugin is active.
Access control
Section titled “Access control”Restrict anonymous posting by WordPress role, exclude specific BuddyPress member types, or require a verified badge when the BP Verified Member plugin is active. Site administrators (any user with manage_options) always bypass these restrictions and never see the checkbox.
Custom display name, labels, and avatar
Section titled “Custom display name, labels, and avatar”Set the anonymous display name, the activity and comment checkbox labels, the forum checkbox label, and a custom anonymous avatar image (uploaded through the WordPress media library). Without a custom image the plugin uses its own bundled anonymous-mask SVG.
Activity filter
Section titled “Activity filter”An anonymous entry is added to the BuddyPress activity type filter dropdown, so anonymous activities can be listed on their own using a meta query.
Anonymous single-activity page
Section titled “Anonymous single-activity page”Opening the permalink of an anonymous activity loads a theme-appropriate template (BP Nouveau, BuddyBoss, Youzify, or a legacy fallback) that does not expose the real author.
Third-party integrations
Section titled “Third-party integrations”Built-in handling for BuddyBoss Platform, bbPress, BuddyBoss Forums, BP Verified Member, RTMedia (removes the secondary avatar on anonymous group and friends activities), Youzify, and BP Nouveau.
Discover tab
Section titled “Discover tab”Added in 1.6.2. Lists the other Wbcom plugins that work alongside this one, with one-click install and activation for products that offer a free tier. Installs only from a fixed built-in catalogue, pinned to wbcomdesigns.com.
Automatic updates
Section titled “Automatic updates”An Easy Digital Downloads licence updater connects to wbcomdesigns.com to deliver updates when a valid licence key is active. Omitting a key does not disable any feature.
